The legal technology company is opening its fifth U.S. office in Boston, expanding its local team and strengthening its presence among law firms and corporate legal departments.
Boston, Massachusetts, 6 October 2026 – Legal work is entering a new phase as artificial intelligence becomes increasingly connected to everyday research, document review, contract analysis, and other professional tasks. Against this backdrop, legal AI company Harvey is expanding its presence in Boston with the opening of its fifth U.S. office.
The San Francisco based company already has a team of 10 employees in Boston and plans to add between 40 and 50 employees over the next nine months. The new hiring will focus on areas including sales, recruiting, legal engineering, and customer success. The expansion reflects Harvey’s growing customer base across the Boston area and its wider focus on supporting legal teams with purpose built AI technology.
Harvey develops artificial intelligence software designed specifically for legal work. Its platform helps attorneys with tasks such as drafting documents, researching legal matters, analyzing contracts, and working with large volumes of legal information. The company is also developing AI agents that can support more complex legal workflows, allowing professionals to spend more time on strategic work and professional judgment.
Boston has become an important market for the company. Harvey’s customers in the region include law firms such as Ropes & Gray, Mintz, Foley Hoag, and Verrill. Its corporate legal customers include DraftKings, athenahealth, and Toast. Harvey also works with Boston University through its law school program.
The company said Boston’s strong base of technology, business, academic, and professional talent was an important factor behind the decision to establish a local office. Having employees closer to customers is also expected to help Harvey strengthen relationships with legal teams throughout New England.
The expansion follows a major funding round announced in September 2026. Harvey raised $550 million in new funding, bringing its valuation to approximately $15.5 billion. The company has also expanded into other major U.S. markets, including Chicago, Dallas, and New York.
As artificial intelligence continues to reshape the legal industry, the need for reliable and specialized legal technology is also increasing. Harvey’s Boston expansion places the company closer to a large community of law firms, corporate legal departments, universities, and technology professionals.
The new office is expected to serve as a base for Harvey’s growing local workforce while supporting customers and expanding the company’s reach across New England. For Boston’s legal technology ecosystem, the move also highlights the increasing role of AI in modern legal operations and the growing demand for tools that can help legal professionals work more efficiently while keeping human expertise at the center of decision making.
